Kentucky State Dominates with 35 Hits in Series Sweep Against LeMoyne-Owen Magicians

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Kentucky State baseball tallies 35 hits in series sweep of the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians in Memphis, Tennessee.
 
Game One: LeMoyne-Owen: 4 Kentucky State: 5
Cedric Poellnitz doubled in the seventh inning to score one run and earn a 5-4 win over LeMoyne-Owen in game one of the series.
 
The Magicians were the first on the board on a double at the bottom of the first.
 
Kentucky State took their first lead led by a double from Parker White that scored one run. Collier Higgs homered into right field to take a 3-1 lead. The fourth inning ended tied  3-3 as the Magicians added two runs in the bottom of the inning.
 
A single by Brad Dossett and a double by Poellnitz added two runs and win the game 5-4 for Kentucky State.
 
Dashawn Hureskin earned the win pitching eight innings and striking out 6 batters.
 
Game Two: LeMoyne-Owen: 1 Kentucky State: 15, 7 inn.
Kentucky State scores 15 runs on ten hits to defeat LeMoyne-Owen 15-1 earning the doubleheader sweep.
 
Mitchell Collins hit a double to center field, driving in three runs in the second inning. The Thorobreds extended their lead to 7-0 through two innings.
 
Three singles by Brad Dossett, Poellnitz and Collins each added one run to propel the Thorobreds to a 14-0 lead.
 
A single by Poellnitz into right field sent one run in and secured a 15-1 victory for Kentucky State.
 
In game two Collins and Poellnitz led Thorobreds with 4 RBI as Poellnitz led the way with three hits.
 
Game Three: LeMoyne-Owen: 1 Kentucky State: 9
Parker White, Dossett, and Poellnitz each doubled to propel the Thorobreds to a 9-1 victory over the Magicians in the third game of the series.
 
Higgs singled to center field, driving in the game's first run, followed by Dossett's two-RBI double to right field, boosting the Thorobreds to an early 4-0 advantage through three innings.
 
The seventh inning was hug for Kentucky State as they scored five runs to earn a 9-1 win over the Magicians.
 
Solomon Reed earned the win pitching nine innings, eight strikeouts and allowing only one run.
