OWENSBORO, Ky. – Collier Higgs hit a home run in the seventh inning during his return to his hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky, on Tuesday in a non-conference game against Kentucky Wesleyan.
Despite a 22-3 loss to Kentucky Wesleyan, the Thorobreds saw offensive highlights with
Collier Higgs hitting a home run and both
Kelton Saylor and
Brad Dossett securing doubles at the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the top of the first inning,
Brad Dossett scored on an error by the shortstop, marking the first runs of the contest. The Panthers answered with a run to tie the game at 1-1 after the first inning.
Trailing 18-1, the Thorobreds added a run in the sixth inning as
Kendall Garland was walked, allowing
Jayden Clark to cross home plate.
Returning to his home town of Owensboro Higgs homered into right field to score the final run of the contest for both teams.
UP NEXT
The Thorobreds will travel to Memphis, Tennessee, for a three-game SIAC series against LeMoyne-Owen, starting with a doubleheader at 12 p.m. CT on Friday, March 29.
