FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State baseball head coach
Rob Henry earned in his 200th career win in an exciting 17-14 game one win over league opponent Morehouse.
Game One: Kentucky State: 17, Morehouse: 14
The Thorobreds amassed 12 hits including one grand slam from
Joseph Esparza in the fourth inning to defeat the Maroon Tigers 17-14 in the first game of the doubleheader.
Kentucky State notched six fourth-inning runs, capped by Esparza's grand slam, which plated
Parker White, Jaydon Clark,
Kelton Saylor and Esparza. The Thorobreds extended their lead to 14-1 over the Maroon Tigers by the fourth's close.
Morehouse mounted a seventh-inning rally with eight runs, but Kentucky State answered with two, widening the gap to 16-9 by inning's end.
The Marron Tigers scored five runs in the eighth inning two come within two of the 16-14 Kentucky State the top of the inning. Esparza tripled to right center to bat in White and secure a 17-14 win.
White, Esparza, and Saylor each hit a triple, while Esparza also homered.
On the base paths, Higgs, Collins, Fletcher, and Clark each stole a base, with Clark swiping two. Saylor was hit by a pitch.
Game Two: Kentucky State: 8, Morehouse: 3
Saylor put the first runs on the board in the second game, crossing home on a passed ball in the opening inning.
Saylor's single drove in Collins, extending the Thorobreds' advantage to 2-0 after two innings.
Higgs doubled into right field to bat in Clark and Saylor at the bottom of the fourth.
Bakari Rush scored in the fifth inning on a passed ball to give the Thorobreds a 6-2 lead.

Game Three: Kentucky State: 3, Morehouse: 13
In the conference series finale, Kentucky State was defeated by Morehouse, which clinched the game with a 13-3 victory.
Fletcher led Kentucky State, driving in all three runs with a homer to left field in the second inning.
Morehouse secured the victory, scoring three runs in the third, four in the fourth, and five in the ninth innings.
