FRANKFORT, Ky. – This weekend Kentucky State men's and women's basketball team will recognize their seniors during the game against Spring Hill on Saturday, Feb. 24.
The men's team will recognize Josh Cross and Brandon Hill.
- Josh Cross, a 6-1 senior from Orlando, has had a great season as he accumulated many season highs of five assists on the Feb. 5 game against LeMoyne-Owen and scoring 15 points on the Nov. 12 game against Delta State.
- Brandon Hill, a transfer from Highland Community College, averaged 10.7 points, 2.7 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals this season. Hill leads the team in assists and steals. Hill is also on the HBCU All-Stars watch list for the All-Star game during the men's final four.
The women's team will recognize Nya Caruthers, Gracen Kerr, Kayla Thompson, Aiesosa Woghiren, Naja Fenelon, Sydney Thomas, Hilani Catone, and Erica Jones.
- Nya Caruthers, a transfer from Columbus State Community College had an season high of 12 points against Allen that included four field goals, two free throws, and four three-pointers.
- Gracen Kerr, currently leads the team with 394 points this season. She also leads the team in assists, three-pointers, and field goals.
- Kayla Thompson, a 6'3 forward out of Louisville has contributed to the team this season in many ways on and off the court. She had a season-high of four rebounds in the Jan. 13 game against Tuskegee.
- Aiesosa Woghiren, has averaged 6.1 points, 0.6 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 0.7 steals this season and included two season highs of 13 points and 13 rebounds.
- Naja Fenelon, has averaged 4.2 points, 1.4 assists, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals this season.
- Sydney Thomas, has averaged 6.9 points, 1.4 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals this season. Thomas had a game high of ten rebounds in the Nov. 27 game against Edward Waters.
- Hilani Catone, has averaged 8.6 points, 2.2 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals this season. She had a season high of 17 points in the Nov. 15 game against West Liberty.
- Erica Jones, has been a great defensive player for the Thorobreds this season. She had a season-high of 20 rebounds against Central State and six steals against Lane.
Senior presentations for women's basketball will begin during pregame and before the men's warm-up.
The 2023-24 regular season will end in a two-game homestead beginning on Saturday, Feb. 24 to Spring Hill and the final game on Monday, Feb. 26, against Tuskegee.
