FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State men's basketball fell to Albany State 80-48 on Saturday afternoon.
The Thorobreds managed a 74.1% performance from the free-throw line.
Aziel Blackwell led the effort, sinking five free throws, while teammates
Morgan Brewer and
Chase Dumas each contributed four.
Lavar Miller Jr. paced Kentucky State with 12 points, adding one assist and three steals.
Albany State shot 60.4% from the field and 69.2% from the free-throw line. Shakur Poteat led the Golden Rams with 24 points, going 8-for-12 from the field, 4-for-7 from beyond the arc, and 4-for-6 at the line.
The Golden Rams controlled the game from the outset, taking a 38-26 lead into halftime before outscoring the Thorobreds 42-22 in the second half to secure the victory.
Kentucky State will look to bounce back in Atlanta, Georgia, with a pair of conference matchups, beginning at Morehouse on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m.
