ATLANTA – Keon Henderson led Kentucky State with 17 points in the Thorobreds' 81-69 loss to Clark Atlanta.
Shooting over 60% (7-of-11) from the field, along with two free throws and a three-pointer, Henderson led the way for the Thorobreds.
Ogien Ayo scored in double figures with 16 points, hitting seven shots from the field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Ayo opened the scoring for Kentucky State with the first five points of the game, including a jumper and layup, to give the Thorobreds an early lead. The Panthers responded quickly, tying the game at 7-7 with 16:03 remaining in the first half.
Henderson put Kentucky State back in front with a jumper, giving the Thorobreds an 18-17 edge at the 9:50 mark. Henderson later tied the game at 24-24 with 5:25 to play in the half.
Aziel Blackwell kept the Thorobreds close, hitting a floater to knot the score at 26-26 with 4:06 remaining, and again tying the game moments later at the 3:16 mark.
Clark Atlanta closed the half strong, sinking a three-pointer to take a 38-32 lead into the break.
The Panthers extended their lead to a largest margin of 16 points at the 17:13 mark of the second half, going up 50-34 over the Thorobreds.
Continuing their momentum the Panthers kept a comfortable lead, and went on to defeat the Thorobreds 81-69.

The Thorobreds will head to Monteville, Conn. as the open the Chris Paul HBCU Classic to Winston-Salem State at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19.
