Kentucky State Women’s Basketball Falls to Union

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State women's basketball drops midweek contest at Union 114-66 Wednesday afternoon in Jackson, Tennessee.
 
Khalia Bryant led the Thorobreds with 20 points, shooting 90% from the field (9-of-10) and added seven rebounds. Dominating the boards Mondrea Williams recorded 11 rebounds. Diana McBroom tallied six assists to lead the Thorobreds.
 
Union's Bethany Dillard spearheaded the Bulldogs' offense, draining eight of the team's 24 three-pointers en route to lead both teams with 26 points. The Bulldogs capitalized on Kentucky State's turnovers, converting them into 49 points. Union's bench outscored Kentucky State's reserves 67-16.
 
The Thorobreds opened strong, sinking their first three shots and grabbing an early lead, but Union surged ahead to close the first quarter with a 26-21 advantage. The Bulldogs extended their lead with strong shooting from beyond the arc, going into halftime up 56-32.
 
Union widened the gap further in the third quarter, outscoring Kentucky State 40-18. Though the Thorobreds kept the fourth quarter closer, being outscored 18-16, the Bulldogs secured the decisive victory.
 
Kentucky State will return to back to conference play on Monday, Dec. 16 in Atlanta, Georgia against Clark Atlanta. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
