FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky State women's volleyball moves to second in the SIAC West Division with a 3-0 sweep of the Central State Marauders, Saturday afternoon in Bell Gym.
Senior
Amber Gregory led the match with 13 assists and four aces, while her teammate Junior
Jaicee Corcoran led both teams with 12 digs.
A service ace by Gregory near the midway point of the first set gave the Thorobreds a 14-6 lead. Both team exchanged points but at the end of the set a kill by
Leah Tubbs and
Camri Goodwin produced a 25-19 Kentucky State set win.
Corcoran scored the first points of the second set on a kill assisted by Gregory that was followed by a pair of kills from Goodwin led to an early 6-1 Kentucky State lead. Late in the set the Marauders came to within one of the 18-17 KSU lead on a service error. Back-to-Back kills by
Kyeana Biggs and a kill from Goodwin led to a 25-20 second set win.
The momentum continued into the third set for the Thorobreds with six points that included a pair of service aces from Gregory and a kill from each
Randi Neal, Corcoran and Goodwin led to a 25-12 KSU set win and a 3-0 match win.
Kentucky State continues SIAC play this Friday (Oct. 25) and Saturday (Oct. 26) in a SIAC Cluster at Lane College where they will face Spring Hill, Miles and Tuskegee.
