ATLANTA – Kentucky State's
Lawrence McConnell has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in the Thorobreds 23-21victory over Benedict College.
McConnell, a sophomore defensive back from St. Louis, Missouri, tabbed his first interception late in the first quarter (3:57). In addition to the interception, he led the Thorobreds with five solo tackles and four assisted tackles for a total of nine tackles. He also recorded one sack during the contest.
This recognition marks McConnell's first SIAC Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.
Kentucky State will look to continue their momentum this Saturday, October 19 as they face Tuskegee in Tuskegee, Alabama.
