TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Kentucky State men's basketball team experienced a close contest against the Tuskegee Golden Tigers, ultimately falling with a final score of 72-66.
Ogien Ayo led the Thorobreds with a double double of 14 points and ten rebounds while also leading the Thorobreds with two blocks.
Three Thorobreds followed Ayo scoring in the double digits
Aziel Blackwell scored 13 and both
Lavar Miller Jr. and
Joseph Owens tallied 11.
Kentucky State made a strong comeback against Tuskegee, finishing the first half with a 7-2 run. This surge narrowed the Thorobreds' deficit to four points, ending the half with a score of 37-33 in favor of the Golden Tigers.
Towards the end of the first half and start first Kentucky State went on a 13-3 that was followed with a driving lay-up by
Brandon Hill gave the Thorobreds a 39-38 lead their first of the second half (18:14).
Miller found one from long range to tie the game 56-56 at the 9:49 mark in the second half.
Tuskegee was able to fend of the Thorobreds to win the contest 72-66.
Men's basketball will meet league opponent Spring Hill on Monday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m. CT in Mobile, Alabama.
