FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State dropped their home series with Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Lane College in Frankfort, Kentucky.
Game 1
Lane scored five runs at the top of the first inning as
Brooklyn Black tripled to send in
Imani Reed. Black would go on to score on a passed ball to bring the Thorobreds to within three of the 5-2 Lane lead.
Lane scored two runs in the fourth inning to bring their final run total to seven and hold a 7-2 lead after four innings.
Aaliyah Yates brought in
Kendall Collier on a home run in the bottom sixth inning. Lane went on to win the first game 7-4.
Game 2
The Dragons held a 7-0 lead after four innings, with three runs scored in the first and second innings, followed by one run in the third.
Lane scored at the top of the fifth inning as
Tommya Davis hit a double to bat in
Kayla West and put the first runs for the Thorobreds.
Lane scored a run in the sixth inning, and Black responded with a single that sent
Neomi Thomas across home.
At the bottom of the seventh inning, the Thorobreds found some fire as a Reed scored on a wild pitch. Thomas scored an error by the shortstop, and Black scored the final run with the Thorobreds falling to the Dragons 9-5.
Game 3
Lane would win the third and final game 8-1, completing the game with 12 hits and no errors. Kentucky State finished the game with one run, eight hits, and three errors.
Up Next
The Thorobreds will head to Salem, West Virginia, for a doubleheader with Salem Tigers beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29.
