BRIDGEPORT, W.V. – Softball win's second game 5-3 to split the doubleheader with the Salem Tigers Wednesday afternoon in Bridgeport, West Virginia. 
 
Game 1
The Salem Tigers scored three runs in the fourth and two in the sixth to win the first game of the doubleheader 5-0 with seven hits. Kentucky State tallied eight hits, led by Neomi Thomas with three hits in three at bats. 
 
Game 2
Kentucky State bounced back and won the second game 5-3 with seven hits and no errors. 
 
Thomas scored on a single by Kayla West to give the Thorobreds a 1-0 lead after the first inning. 
 
Kamaria Hurse stole home in the third to add the inning's first run. Imani Reed and Thomas were able to score on a double by West and extend the lead to a 4-0 Kentucky State lead. 
 
The Tigers came to within one (4-3) of the Kentucky State lead, scoring three runs in the fourth inning. 
 
A sacrifice fly by West advanced Reed to third and Thomas home to secure a 5-3 Kentucky State victory. 
 
Along with her strong hitting performance, West also secured the win at the mound pitching all seven innings and tallying five strikeouts. 
 
Up Next 
Softball will head to Alabama to take on SIAC opponent, the Miles College Golden Bears, in a three game series beginning on Saturday, April 1st.
