WILMORE, Ky. – Kentucky State baseball drops a close one against Asbury 9-6 Tuesday evening in Wilmore, Kentucky.
The Eagles scored five runs in the first and second innings to take an early 5-0 lead.
Preston Jones reached on a fielder's choice to advance to second on an error by Asbury that allowed both
Treyvon Fletcher and
Jace Wilson to score and close on the 5-2 Asbury lead after four innings.
Joseph Esparza led the scoring run by Kentucky State with a homerun into left field.
Antonio Chambers followed with a double to bat in Wilson. A single by Fletcher sent Chambers home and tied the game at 5-5 at the top of the fifth.
Asbury matched Kentucky State with a three-run home run to take an 8-5 lead after five innings.
The Eagles added one more run in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 9-5.
Kentucky State kept fighting as
Daniel Moore doubled down the left field line to bat in one runner. The Thorobreds would go on to fall 9-6 to the Eagles.
