JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A three-run homerun by
Antonio Chambers in the ninth inning leads to a 9-8 Kentucky State victory at Edward Waters Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida.
The Thorobreds win the series against the 2022 HBCU National Champions Edward Waters 2-1 with their win this afternoon.
Joseph Esparza started things off early with a three-run homerun in the first inning. The Tigers could only score one run at the bottom of the first to give Kentucky State a 3-1 lead.
Esparza singled to bat one runner in; he was then batted in on a double by
Jace Wilson to extend the Thorobreds to a 5-1 lead at the end of the fourth.
Edward Waters scored six runs in the fifth and six innings to take a 5-8 advantage after six.
The Thorobreds continued to fight as Chambers hit a homerun with two runners on base to tie the game at 8-8 in the top of the ninth. Esparza sent
John Hidgon home on a sacrifice fly to center to secure the 9-8 Kentucky State victory.
