MOBILE, Al. – Five points by
Jalon Andrews and a last-second fast break layup by
Brandon Hill lead to an exciting 84-83 victory against the Spring Hill College Badgers Saturday afternoon in Mobile, Alabama.
The Badgers went 10-of-14 from the charity stripe and made one more shot from the field than Kentucky State to end the first half with a 37-29 lead.
A Spring Hill dunk at 8:20 in the second half gave the Badgers a 14-point 66-52, their largest half lead.
Shamon Mosely scored four points to tie the game 73-73 with 2:59 remaining in the second half.
The following three minutes would be a thriller beginning with a layup by
Montrell Jacobs, giving his team a one-point 76-77 lead. Spring Hill made a three-pointer to brief before Andrews tied the game 79-79 with 49 seconds remaining in the second half.
The Badgers scored quickly, but Andrews would hit a three to take back the lead as Spring Hill made their free-throw attempt to tie the game 82-82 with ten seconds remaining second half.
Hill scored on a fast break layup with just four seconds on the game clock to secure an 84-83 victory.
Andrews went 5-of-7 from the three-point line and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe that led to a career-high of 36 points; he also tallied seven rebounds.
Kong led the Thorobreds with eight rebounds and one block.
