FRANKFORT, Ky. – Taleah Dilworth led Kentucky State with 24 points, but the Thorobreds dropped 71-85 to the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans on Saturday afternoon at the Exum Center.
Mondrea Williams and
Aiseosa Woghiren both earned double-doubles during the game.
Shooting 100%(3-of-3) from the charity stripe and 75% (3-of-4) from the three-point line Dilowrth led both teams with 24 points.
Gracen Kerr had a strong showing of 18 points while leading KSU with six assists.
A pair of Thorobreds achieved double-doubles. Williams scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while Woghiren scored 13 points and secured ten rebounds. Additionally, the duo led KSU with a total of 2 steals.
Dilworth scored on a driving layup and made the free throw to score the first three points of the contest. She made a jumper to tie the game 5-5 at 8:28 in the first quarter.
Kerr showcased her accuracy in the first quarter, converting five of her last six attempts and contributing to a deadlock as the quarter concluded with a tied score of 24-24.
The Trojans went on a 10-2 run at the end of the second quarter to take a 49-37 lead at halftime.
A three-point jumper by
Sydney Thomas brought Thorobreds to within eight of the 79-71 Trojan lead in the fourth quarter (1:12). Trevecca Nazarene went on a late run to defeat the Thorobreds 85-71.
The Thorobreds will open the new year to nearby opponent Midway on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside the William Exum Center.
