FRANKFORT, KY. – Keeping the Wilberforce Bulldogs to single digits in three quarters and a second half 42-point scoring run added another win for the Kentucky State women's basketball team.
Gracen Kerr continued to show why she is deserving of Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week Honors as she shot nearly 70% from the field to lead both teams with 21 points. Along with scoring she led the Thorobreds with six assists.
Going 71% from the charity stripe and making seven shots from the field
Jayln Shelby had a career high night of 19 points along with nine rebounds. As a true freshman head coach Amani Williams knew Shelby had the fight of a upperclassman, "She plays hard and doesn't back down to anyone. During high school this was a regular thing and I told her you need to bring this to Kentucky State and she's been doing a fantastic job, I am very proud of her." Williams said.
The Thorobreds found their space in the first quarter going on a 12-2 and a made layup by Kerr secured a 14-4 lead. Kentucky State kept Wilberforce scoreless for the final two minutes to lead 16-6 at the end of the quarter.
Kentucky State controlled the paint scoring 18 of their 23 points from to hold off the Bulldogs and lead 39-22 at halftime.
In the second half the Thorobreds found their groove with as both Kerr (11) and Jaylyn Shelby (15) scored in the double-digits led to a 42-10 run until :21 in the fourth quarter.
The contest concluded with a three-pointer by
Aiseosa Woghiren, marking the 90th and final point and securing Kentucky State's decisive 90-45 victory.

Before the holiday break the Thorobreds will travel to Fort Valley on Saturday, Dec. 16 and Albany State on Monday, Dec. 18.
