JACKSONVILLE, Fla.  – Josiah Mitchell shoots 83% from the three-point line and nearly 70% from the field to lead Kentucky State with 29 in a tough 88-85 loss at Edward Waters.
 
After being outscored 44-30 by Edward Waters in the first, Kentucky State was able to fight back with a 31-7 and regain a brief lead. The Tigers went on to make three of their last four shots from the field to defeat the Thorobreds.  
 
Early in the first quarter the lead changed four times and tied twice before a 13-2 Edward Waters run gave the Tigers an 18-10 lead at 11:49 in the first half.
 
The Tigers closed out the first half making 18 shots from the field and 21 points from turnovers led to a 44-30 halftime lead.
 
Lavar Miller Jr. hit a three pointer to give the Thorobreds a 47-46 and extending the Kentucky State run to 29 points to take a second half (16:19) lead.
 
Mitchell scored is 22nd point of the night at 15:17 in the second that extended the Kentucky State lead 53-49. He added another three-pointer add to the 31-7 run with 13:21 remaining in the second half.
 
Over 8 lead changes within a matter of minutes the Tigers took a 67-66 lead at 7:45 in the second half.
 
A late 9-2 Kentucky State run wasn't enough to overcome Edward Waters as the Tigers would go on to defeat the Thorobreds 85-88.
 
Along with Mitchell, 
Khalif Crawley Jr. (19) and 
Lavar Miller Jr. (10) scored in the double figures.
