FRANKFORT, Ky. – In an exciting home open the Kentucky State men's basketball team defeated non-conference opponent Delta State 82-79.
From the bench Kentucky State outscored Delta State 50-5, this effort was led by three Thorobreds
Aziel Blackwell (17),
Josh Cross (15) and
Jaylen Daughtery (12).
As a team the Thorobreds found success scoring 14 second chance points and 18 points on the fast break.
In the first half Kentucky State they made 15 shots from the field and made 91.7% (11-of-12) at the charity strip to outscore Delta State 44-36.
Things began to favor Delta State in the second half as they took a 78-75 lead with 2:53 left in regulation. But Kentucky State fought back and responded with a 12-5 run to regain the lead and win the contest 82-79.
A Look Ahead
Men's basketball will head to Tiffin, Ohio on Nov. 6 as they meet Tiffin University, tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
