Frankfort, Ky.- Kentucky State women's basketball limits the Tuskegee Golden Tigers (11-3,8-0 SIAC) to just seven points in the fourth quarter as they fall 58-48 Saturday afternoon inside the William Exum Center.
Gracen Kerr scored on a second-chance layup to tie the game at 2-2 early in the first quarter (8:41).
The Golden Tigers jumped ahead briefly before
Taleah Dilworth scored on a turnover to tie the game at 6-6 at 6:58 in the first quarter. Tuskegee would tie the game tie the game one time before Kentucky State began their run on two made free throws by
Hilani Cantone.
A last-minute three by the Golden Tigers brought them to within three of the 19-16 Kentucky state lead at the end of the first quarter.
Tuskegee would close the lead in the first minutes of the second quarter and continue their momentum to lead 33-23 at the half.
The Golden Tigers made 8-of-9 attempts at the free throw line to lead 51-35 at the end of the third quarter.
Dilworth brought the Thorobreds to within nine of the 53-44 Golden Tiger lead, making her free throw on the and one with 1:39 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Golden Tigers would go on to win the game 58-48.
Kerr led her team with 13 points and four assists. Dillworth scored 9 points, and
Laurie Thomas continued a strong defensive performance with 16 rebounds and 6 points.
The Thorobreds return to William Exum on Monday, Jan. 9th at 7:30 pm to play conference opponent Spring Hill College (2-11,1-7 SIAC).
