FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State men's basketball fell to the Tuskegee Golden Tigers 90-69 Saturday afternoon inside the William Exum Center.
The Golden Tigers scored first on a three-pointer, and
Jalon Andrews followed on a fast break layup to bring the Thorobreds to within one (3-2) at 19:31 in the first half.
Andrews gave Kentucky State their first lead of 17-16 on a turnaround jump shot with 11:41 remaining.
After a tie and lead by Tuskegee, Andrews hit a long-range three to tie the game 29-29 at 5:35.
Montrell Jacobs tied the game 37-37 on a fastbreak dunk to leave the game tied at the half.
Tyson Brooks scored the first points of the second half to give Kentucky State a 39-37 second-half lead.
Tuskegee led the game for a brief moment before Brooks gave tied the game and gave Kentucky State a 43-42 second-half lead on two made free throws.
Tuskegee ended the Kentucky State and tied the game 46-46 as Jacobs responded with a three-pointer giving Kentucky a brief lead before the Golden Tigers tied the game 49-49 with 14:27 left in the second half.
Kong Kong tied the game one last time before the Golden Tigers went on a run to win the game 90-69.
Jacobs led Kentucky State with 17 points; his teammates Andrews finished with 14 and Kong with 11.
Jay Murrell tallied five of the team's 13 assists. Both Murrell and Brooks led Kentucky State with five rebounds.
Kentucky State will host the Spring Hill College Badgers on Monday, January 9, at 5:30 p.m. inside the William Exum Center.
