23 Point Lead Propels Kentucky State to Victory

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State Thorobreds defends "The Hill," defeating the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians 73-51 Monday night inside the Exum Center.  
 
Taleah Dilworth made nine shots from the field to lead Kentucky State with 21 points. 
 
Gracen Kerr grabbed nine rebounds and scored 14 points. Hilani Cantone finished with 13 points while leading both teams with seven assists. 
 
 
How It Happened
A three-pointer by Kerr and a fastbreak layup by Cantone gave the Thorobreds a 9-4 lead with 5:48 in the first quarter. 
 
A late 7-0 run by the Magicians gave them an 18-17 lead for a moment as Kerr hit a jumper to a 19-18 lead at the end of the first quarter. 
 
The Thorobreds went on a 10-2 run led by four points from Laurie Thomas midway through the second quarter, giving them a 32-24 lead with 3:47 remaining in the second quarter. 
 
Cantone scored on a layup in the final moments of the second quarter, giving the Thorobreds a 39-31 lead at the half. 
 
Near the end of the third quarter Kentucky State went on a 12-2 run led by seven points from Cantone and secured a 64-43 lead at the end of the quarter. 
 
Sydney Thomas scored on a layup to give the Thorobreds a 23-point 70-47 lead with 5:09 remaining in the fourth quarter. 
 
Thomas scored the final points for the Thorobreds to secure another 23-point lead before the Magicians followed with a free throw. Kentucky State went on to defeat LeMoyne-Owen 73-51.
