CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – The Kentucky State women's volleyball team finished day one of the SIAC Volleyball Crossover with a 3-1 win against Benedict (3-17,2-2 SIAC) and a 3-0 loss to Albany State (6-5, 6-2 SIAC) at the LakePoint Sports Complex in Cartersville, Ga.
Kentucky State 3, Benedict 1
In the day's first match, the Thorobreds defeated the Benedict Tigers in four sets by scores of
25-15,
25-16,22-25, and
25-15.
Amaya Johnson led the way with 16 kills, 19 digs, one ace, and 24.5 points.
Shaska Davis finished with nine kills and one ace.
Miana Wallace had the team high of eight blocks and tallying seven kills.
Nehemiah Colbert earned seven blocks.
As a team, the Thorobreds controlled the match with 72 points, 48 kills, eight aces, 16 blocks, 48 assists, and 63 digs.
During the match, the score tied 16 times, and the lead changed six times.
Kentucky State 0, Albany State 3
In the day's second match, the Thorobreds lost in three sets, 25-23, 25-22, and 25-21.
Davis had a team of eight kills while earning one ace, seven digs, two blocks, and one ace. Johnson continued her strong performance leading the team with two aces and securing seven kills and five digs.
Miana Wallace led her team with five blocks.
During the match, the Thorobreds earned 25 kills, eight aces, six blocks, 23 assists, and 33 digs.

Women's Volleyball will continue close out their stay in Cartersville, Georgia on Saturday, September 24th with three matches. The first match will be against Savannah State at 10 a.m., followed by Edward Waters at 1 p.m. and the final contest against Allen at 4 p.m.
