FRANKFORT, Ky. – Amaya Johnson,
Nehemiah Colbert and
Shaska Davis led the Thorobreds in the final day of the Kentucky State University Invitational.
Match 1: Edinboro 3, Kentucky State 0
Edinboro in the second set with eight tie scores and four lead changes. Johnson led the set with ten digs, and Miah Colbert earned one block. The Thorobreds would narrowly lose the set 25-21.
The Thorobreds late third set rally wasn't enough to overcome Edinboro as they would win the set 25-17 and the match 3-0.
Johnson led her team with 13 digs, and Colbert led with seven digs.
Match 2: Ohio Dominican 3, Kentucky State 0
In the first set, Johnson led both teams with five digs, which wasn't enough to overcome Ohio Dominican as they would take the first set 25-13.
Davis led both teams with four kills as the Thorobreds led the set with 13. As a team, the Thorobreds tallied 14 digs in the second set. Ohio Dominican would narrowly win the set 25-21.
As the Thorobreds tied the game three times in the third set, that wasn't enough, and Ohio Dominican was able to take the set 25-17 and win the match 3-0.
Davis led Kentucky State with nine digs and her teammate Johnson led the Thorobreds with nine digs.

The Thorobreds will travel to West Virginia State for a midweek contest on Wednesday, August 31 at 6 p.m. in Institute, West Virginia.
