FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State Softball celebrated a pair of seniors
Olivia Saylor and
Moana Pinner during their three-game series with SIAC opponent Miles College.
Olivia Saylor has played four seasons for the Thorobreds. She had season highs of six putouts, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI's during her time with the Thorobreds.
Moana Pinner has played five seasons with the the Thorobreds. During her career she has had game highs of six RBI's, 13 putouts, 4 hits and 2 homeruns.
The Thorobreds took the second game and finished the series 1-2.
Game 1 Kentucky State 2, Miles College 4
Miles College opened the contents scoring the first run in the third inning, and a home run and single in the fourth inning gave them a 4-0 lead.
Arianna Hill doubled in the fifth inning to send
Imani Reed home and close on the 4-1 Golden Bear lead.
The contest's final run came from a single by
Kailen Olison that batted Hill in to close out the first game of the doubleheader with a 4-2 loss.
Game 2 Kentucky State 11, Miles College 2, Five Innings
The Golden Bears opened the first inning with one run scored unearned to lead 1-0 at the end of the first.
Hill doubled in the third inning to advance one runner to third and bat in
Ashley Adkins. Olison flew out to the left field to send Reed across home and give Kentucky State a 2-1.
Aaliyah Yates homered with
Tanisha Valdez on base to extend the Kentucky State to 4-2.
Kentucky State ended the game early in a high-scoring fifth inning. A single by Olison sent Hill home, and Valdez sent Olison home on a double. Adkins doubled and batted in both Valdez and Pinner.
Kendall Collier added to the slugfest batting in Adkins. Saylor batted in Reed and Collier to secure an 11-2 run-rule victory in the final game of the doubleheader.
Game 3 Kentucky State 2, Miles College 1
A tough day in the batter box for Kentucky State allowed Miles College to take the final game of the series 2-1. The Thorobreds tallied eight hits and no errors during the contest.
Up Next
Kentucky State will close out SIAC play to Tuskegee in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 23rd and a single game on Sunday, April 24th in Tuskegee, Alabama.
