LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky State women's track and field team placed second, and the men's team placed third at the Urban League KSU HBCU Indoor Classic.
The inaugural meet was won by both the men's and women's track and field teams of Central State.
Multi-event athlete Nigel Cochran earned a first-place finish in the men's long jump, clearing a distance of 20' 9.75" and won the men's triple jump with an opening jump of 44' 6.25" to set the meet record in both events.
Amani Wagner won the women's weight throw with a meet record throw of 48' 3.25".
In the women's shot put Wagner completed the event with a distance of 41' 0.5" to finish second and her teammate Kimberly Lugg finished third with a collegiate best of 39' 10.75".
In the men's 800 meter run Ma'Rico Holland completed the race in 2:09.63 to set the meet record and win the event.
Calvin Shannon ran a 10.08 in the men's 60 hurdles winning the race and earning the meet record.
It was a good meet for Jaylynne Williams as she secured second in women's 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.55.
Jeremiah Reed finished second in the men's jump after clearing 6' 2.75".
Shannon earned third place in the men's long jump, clearing a distance of 18' 8".
