COLUMBIA, S.C. – Taleah Dilworth leads Kentucky State women's basketball (3-2, 2-1 SIAC) with 19 points in a 73-68 defeat of the Allen Yellow Jackets (3-3, 1-2 SIAC) Saturday afternoon in Columbia, South Carolina. 
 
Three Thorobreds scored in the double digits, led by 19 points from Dilworth, Gracen Kerr with 14 points, and Hilani Cantone with 12 points. 
 
Naja Fenelon went 100% (8 of 8) from the free throw line and her team completed 73.1% (38 of 52) from the charity stripe.
 
How it Happened
The Allen Yellow Jackets scored the contest's first points to begin the game on a 9-0 run at 5:38 in the first quarter.
 
Laurie Thomas ended the run, making both of her attempts from the charity stripe. The first quarter ended on two made attempts from Fenelon, and a good free throw made by Allen gave them a 15-12 first quarter lead. 
 
A layup by Cantone tied the game 28-28 with 1:47 remaining in the second quarter. 
 
Kerr made both attempts at the free throw line to give the Thorobreds a 32-31 at the half. 
 
Late in the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets took a 52-51 lead on a layup by Kayla Pope. 
 
Cantone tied the game 53-53 with a layup as the Yellow Jackets responded with a good jump shot to take back the lead 55-53. A good free throw by Cantone and Kerr tied the game right back at 55-55. 
 
After a short Kentucky State lead, the Yellow Jackets tied the game at 57-57. 
 
The Thorobreds quickly gained back a 59-57 lead on a good layup by Thomas. 
 
In the final moments of the fourth quarter the Yellow Jackets were able to come within in three (71-68) on a good long range jumper by Keyshuna Fair. Two good free throw attempts by Kerr secured a 73-68 victory.

Kentucky State will meet Benedict on Monday, Dec. 5 for the final game of the road trip. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Columbia, South Carolina.
