COLUMBIA, S.C. – Kentucky State men's basketball dominates the second half to defeat the Allen Yellow Jackets 82-60 Saturday afternoon in Columbia, South Carolina.
Allen had 11 turnovers in the second half allowing Kentucky State to capitalize and score 15 points from turnovers.
The Thorobreds were led by 21 points from
Montrell Jacobs, followed by his teammates
Elijiah Lockhart with 13,
Jalon Andrews with 12, and
Jay Murrell with 11.
How it Happened
Kentucky State had a quick two points on free throws made by Jacobs because of an Allen technical.
Tyson Brooks scored on a second chance layup, and a three pointer by Murrell gave the Thorobreds an early 7-0 with 18:13 in the first half.
Lockhart gave Kentucky State a 13 point 24-11 lead on a three pointer at 11:59 in the first half.
Allen was able to get the Kentucky State to within the single digits, but four points by the Thorobreds led by Lockhart (2),
Ifeoluwa Shoyoye (1), and
Aziel Blackwell (1) were able to give the Thorobreds a 32-20 lead with 6:15 remaining in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets hit a three pointer in the final seconds to close on the 40-37 Kentucky State lead going into halftime.
Right out of the gate, Jacobs hit a jumper to score the first points of the second half.
Shamon Mosley scored on a layup in the paint midway through the second half (11:56) to extend the Kentucky State to 21 points (60-39).
A layup by Blackwell gave Kentucky State a 26 point, 82-56 lead. Allen would score the final points of the contest on a layup. Kentucky State went on to defeat the Yellow Jackets 82-60.

Kentucky State will meet Benedict on Monday, Dec. 5 for the final game of the road trip. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Columbia, South Carolina.
