COLUMBIA, S. C. – After an exciting 103-98 overtime victory against Edward Waters, the Kentucky State men's basketball team (2-1, 1-1 SIAC) will head to Columbia, South Carolina for a pair of SIAC matchups at Allen (0-5, 0-2 SIAC) and Benedict (3-3, 1-1 SIAC).

Scouting the Yellow Jackets
The Thorobreds will open the road trip to the Allen Yellow Jackets on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. inside the John Hurst Adams Gymnasium. It has been a rough start for the Yellow Jackets as they have begun the season 0-5. They are returning from back-to-back road losses to a pair of SIAC opponents, LeMoyne-Owen College (62-75) and Lane College (70-86).
Three Yellow Jackets are averaging in the double digits, Cameron Sembly (12 PPG), Darius Williams (10.6 PPG), and Anthony Baker Jr. (10 PPG).
Scouting the Tigers
For the final game of the road trip, the Thorobreds will meet the Benedict Tigers on Monday, Dec. 5. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the HRC Arena. The Tigers are off to a 3-3 start and are split in conference play 1-1. In their last two matches, they defeated Lane College 64-57 and fell to LeMoyne-Owen 79-82.
Malachi McCoy leads his team averaging 15.2 points per game and 11.7 rebounds per game. Following McCoy, three more Tigers average in the double figures for points, Brandon Smith (13.2 PPG), Brandon Beidleman (12 PPG), and Tim Moore (11.2 PPG).

Kentucky State is off to a steady 2-1 start and split 1-1 in SIAC play. The Thorobreds are heading to South Carolina after a thrilling 103-98 overtime victory against Edward Waters. During the high-scoring affair, five Thorobreds scored in the double digits, led by 33 points from
Jay Murrell, followed by
Montrell Jacobs (23),
Kong Kong (13),
Jalon Andrews (12), and
Aziel Blackwell (11). Andrews added another double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Early in the season, the Thorobreds are led by Murrell, who averages 20 points per game and 11 assists. Kong leads his team with six blocks this season, averaging 16 points per game. Andrews has had multiple double-doubles this season, averaging 15.3 points per game and 11.3 rebounds per game.
