LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior Jalon Andrews led Kentucky State with 14 points during an exhibition contest with the University of Kentucky inside Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
Montrell Jacobs scored the game's first points on a wide-open three-point to give Kentucky State a 3-0 lead early in the first half (19:52).
An early first-half lead gave the Wildcats the momentum to defeat the Thorobreds 111-53.
Senior Montrell Jacobs went two of two from the charity stripe and had two made shots from long range to tally eight points for the contest.
During the post-game press conference Head Men's Basketball Coach,
Jamaal Jackson shows his appreciation for the University of Kentucky, " We appreciate Coach Cal (Calipari), Mitch Barnhart, Kevin Sergeant, and the whole administrative team for having us here. It means a lot to our program and a lot to our players, and it helps us a lot as well. We definitely appreciate them having us out here for this game."
Tonight's game will be an essential piece to the development of Kentucky State men's basketball this season, "We are not going to see a team as good as this team was. We know that we could've done better. We really need to look at the defensive end and execute better on the offensive end." Head Coach Jackson said.
Kentucky State will meet division I opponent Western Kentucky in an exhibition on November 12 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
