LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky State men's basketball team (2-1, 1-1 SIAC) defeated Edward Waters (1-2, 1-2 SIAC) 103-98 on Monday (Nov. 28) at the Clive M. Beck Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
In the first half, the Thorobreds overcame a 15-point deficit that Jay Murrell ended on a three-pointer, giving his team a 46-45 lead with 1:37 remaining in the first half.
The first half ended on a 20-point Kentucky State scoring run and a 50-45 lead.
Murrell gave Kentucky State a 14-point (76-64) lead, the largest of the second half, on a step-back three-point jump shot.
Edward Waters sent the game into overtime on three made free throws and a lay-up made on a turnover to tie the game at 87-87.
The Thorobreds were able to control overtime with their biggest lead of seven points and a five-point scoring run to defeat the Tigers 103-98.
Jay Murrell went 11-of-17 from the field, 4-of-6 from the three-point line, and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe to earn a career-high of 33 points.
Jalon Andrews added another double-double to the season with 12 points and 15 rebounds, 11 defensive and four offensive.

- The Thorobreds had 17 offensive rebounds, scoring 25 second chance points.
- Kentucky State shot 63.6% (28-of-44) from the free throw line.
- Five Thorobreds scored in double figures, Murrell (33), Montrell Jacobs (23), Kong Kong (13), Andrews (11) and Aziel Blackwell (11).
- Kong tallied five of the seven Kentucky State blocks, as a team Edward Waters had two.

The Thorobreds will travel to Columbia, South Carolina for a pair of league games at Allen on Dec. 3 and Benedict on Dec. 5.
