FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State women's volleyball earned two back-to-back sweeps against Fort Valley State (3-0) and Clark Atlanta (3-0) during the SIAC West Cluster.
The Thorobreds took a 25-15 lead on the Wildcats in the opening match.
Shaska Davis earned four kills as
Audi Hicks assisted eight of the team's nine kills in the first set.
Amaya Johnson tallied 11 digs, and her teammate Hicks continued to place the ball allowing her team to earn 11 kills led by
Kendall Washington (3), Johnson (3), and Davis (3). A strong team performance gave Kentucky State a 25-22 set win to lead the match 2-0 going into the third set.
Kentucky State completely dominated the third set allowing the Wildcats to just ten points and taking the set 25-10 to sweep the Wildcats 3-0.
Hicks led the match with 24 assists while earning seven digs. Johnson led the match with 17 digs and ten kills.
The Thorobreds had to battle with the Panthers after a thrilling 27-25 set one win.
Hicks tallied 13 assists, and her team capitalized those assists with 14 kills, led by Davis (5) and Johnson (5). The second set would become close with eight ties and two lead changes, but the Thorobreds would overcome with a 25-21 victory and a 2-0 match lead.
Kentucky State would hold off Clark Atlanta and win the third set 25-19 and the match 3-0. Both Davis and Johnson led the match with 15 kills each. Hicks led the match with 35 assists out, earning the team total (31) of Clark Atlanta.
Justice Mudd led her team with 16 digs as Johnson was behind her with 15.
