FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State women's volleyball team defeats Lane, Miles, and Tuskegee to move to second in the SIAC West Division (8-5).
Kentucky St. 3, Lane 2
The Thorobreds defeated Lane in five sets, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 19-25, and 15-9, for a 3-2 victory Thursday evening.
As a team, the Thorobreds led the match with 90 digs and nine.
Amaya Johnson led her team, tallying 15 kills, 22 digs, and three aces.
Audi Hicks led the match with 43 of her team's 48 assists and three aces. Miah Colbert had a match-leading performance of 14 kills.
Kentucky St. 0, Spring Hill 3
In the first match of the SIAC West Cluster, the Thorobreds met undefeated Spring Hill College and fell in three sets, 16-25, 11-25, and 17-25. The Thorobreds tallied nine blocks, led by four from Miah Colbert. Her teammate Wallace tallied three.
Kentucky St. 3, Miles 0
Kentucky State swept Miles in three sets, 27-25, 25-23, and 25-17.
The Thorobreds dominated the match with 52 kills, 14 aces, 48 assists, and 51 digs. This effort led to Johnson leading the match with 18 kills; her teammate
Shaska Davis earned 14.
Saniyya Harville led the match with five aces as her teammate Hicks tallied three. Hicks had another outstanding performance earning 47 of the 48 assists. As a team, the Golden Bears only tallied 28.
Erin Grieb tallied a match lead of 17 digs.
Kentucky St. 1, LeMoyne-Owen 3
After a second set 41-39 victory, the Magicians outlasted the Thorobreds 3-1. Kentucky Stae led the match with 82 points, 67 kills, 60 assists, and 93 digs.
Hicks had a season-high of 51 assists. Johnson continued to succeed on the court, leading the match with 20 kills and leading her team with 25 digs alongside Grieb.
Kentucky St. 3, Tuskegee 1
The Thorobreds outlasted the Golden Tigers 29-27 in the first set, followed by a second set 25-21 win, and secured a 25-14 fourth set win.
Kentucky State led the match in every team stat category, 72 points, 54 kills, 11 aces, seven blocks, 51 assists, and 60 digs.
Johnson once again had a stellar performance of 20 kills and 17 digs. Hicks did the same, earning 50 of the 51 assists for the team and out-earned the entire Tuskegee roster. Davis also had a strong performance as she tallied 15 kills and 11 digs. Colbert led the match with five blocks as her teammate
Cymiya Stokes earned 3.
