FRANKFORT, KY – The Kentucky State University baseball team dropped their doubleheader contest to SIAC opponent Spring Hill College 3-8 in the first contest and 2-5 in the second at Alumni Field in Frankfort, Kentucky.
Game One
The Thorobreds were at a disadvantage early, allowing four runs in the first inning and four at the top of the sixth to take an 8-0 lead early.
Jace Wilson doubled to center field in the sixth inning to allow teammate John Graves to score, decreasing the Badger's lead to 8-1 after six.
There was a late surge in the seventh inning, Byron Famble doubled to center, allowing Aram Kumar to advance to third and Ethan Johnson to score. The final run of the first contest would come from Kumar as he crossed home plate in the seventh.
The Thorobreds fall in the first game 8-3, earning eight runs and one error.
Game Two
The second game came alive in the third inning, with the Badgers scoring two runs. Dom Lawson's sacrifice to center allowed teammate Famble to score, keeping the Thorobreds within one after 2-1 third inning.
The Thorobreds would allow one run in the fourth and two in the fifth to let the Badgers to take a 5-1 lead at the top of the fifth. Jared Pierce would ground out to the second baseman allowing his teammate Roby Schank to score.
After seven, the Thorobreds would fall 5-2 with two hits, two runs, and one error.
Up Next
The weekend will come to a close Sunday, April 18th, as the Thorobreds celebrate their seniors before the final contest against Spring Hill College. The first pitch is slated for noon with the presentation beginning at 11:50 a.m. at Alumni Field in Frankfort, Kentucky.
