Baseball Closes Out Road Series with a Win

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Kentucky State baseball team's late rally secured a 10-6 win in game two of the doubleheader series against SIAC opponent Lane College. The Thorobreds dropped a close 5-6 contest to the Dragons in game one at the Ballpark at Jackson.

GAME ONE
After an early four-run deficit in the third inning and a late two-run rally in the seventh inning, the Thorobreds fell 6-5 to Lane College.

The Thorobreds out hit the Dragons 8-7, turned five of those hits into runs, and earned three errors in their loss to Lane.

In the third inning, the Thorobreds allowed five runs that increased the Dragon's lead 6-2 at the end of the third.

A late rally by Sophomore Brennon Williams and Graduate Student Kevin Givhan scoring runs at the top of the seventh wasn't enough to defeat the Dragon's. The Thorobreds fell 6-5 after seven.

GAME TWO
A late-game rally propelled the Thorobreds past the Dragons by a score of 10-6.

It was a fair hitting contest, with both teams earning 11 hits each. The Thorobreds capitalized and scored on 10 of those hits.

In the fifth inning Senior Jared Pierce, Sophomore Collier Higgs, and Senior Byron Famble all scored unearned to tie the ball game at 6-6 going into the sixth inning.

At the top of the sixth inning, four Thorobreds secured runs. Josh Wilson scored from a double by Sophomore Trey Walker. Famble's single allowed Junior Ethan Johnson and Walker to score unearned. Givhan's double down left field allowed teammate Famble to score unearned.

UP NEXT
The Thorobreds will return home for a weekend doubleheader series against SIAC opponent Tuskegee Saturday, March 20, with the first pitch slated for noon ET and the second contest scheduled for 3 p.m.
