TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Kentucky State Football team stole Senior Day for the Tuskegee Golden Tigers 42-35, Saturday afternoon in Tuskegee, Alabama.
In the game's first possession,
Jaylen Johnson would force a fumble that
Trevon Pope would recover to put Kentucky State ahead 7-0 with 14:51 left in the first quarter. Tuskegee would answer on a 27-yard rush to tie the game 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Otis Odom would score on a 33-yard rush to retake the Kentucky State lead 14-7 with 7:03 left in the first quarter. A short three-yard run by the Golden Tigers would tie the game 14-14. Odom would continue to control the run game with a 59-yard rushing touchdown and regain a 21-14 Kentucky State lead with 7:03 left in the second quarter. The Golden Tigers would tie the ball game 21-21 on a passing touchdown late in the second quarter.
Gerardo Baeza would close out the quarter on a 34-yard field goal to allow the Thorobreds to take a 24-21 lead going into the half.
In the third quarter,
Brett Sylve would rush into the endzone on a three-yard to extend the Kentucky State lead 31-21 at the end of the third quarter.
Baeza would open the fourth quarter with a 40-yard field, increasing the Thorobreds lead to 34-28 with 7:24 left in the quarter. Sylve would secure his second touchdown of the night on a 16-yard run. Kentucky State would defeat Tuskegee 42-35.
Both Sylve and Odom had strong performances with two touchdowns each, Sylve led his team with 150 total rushing yards, and Odom tallied 132 with an average of 26.4 yards per carry.
Darrell Dorris Jr. earned eight total tackles, six solo, and two assisted while securing three tackles for a loss of nine yards.
Ja'cione Fugate had one interception for 23 yards and secured three tackles.
Jaylen Johnson forced one fumble, had two tackles for a loss of 21 yards, and acquired five total tackles.

The Thorobreds will return home on Saturday, November 6th as they host Central State for Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. inside Alumni Stadium.
