TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Kentucky State University softball team surrendered sixth-inning runs in both ends of their Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader with Tuskegee to drop a pair of games.
Kentucky State (3-7 overall, 0-2 SIAC) looks to salvage a game in the three-game series when the Thorobreds return to the diamond 1 p.m. EST/Noon CST Sunday against the Golden Tigers.

"We're learning how to fight and win," said Kentucky State University head coach
David Morton. "We are a young team and we are learning to play together. We are working hard to minimize our mistakes, continue to learn from each game and trust in the process to realize our potential."
GAME ONE: TUSKEGEE 7, KENTUCKY STATE 6
Tuskegee scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and took advantage of four errors to score four unearned runs for the 7-6 win.
THE MOMENT THAT MATTERED
A leadoff pinch-hit double in the bottom of the sixth inning got the two-run Tuskegee rally going.
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
Freshman
Kendall Collier (Nashville, Tenn.) went 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. It was the second three-hit game of her career. In the circle, Collier (2-3) allowed three earned runs on nine hits in six innings of work.
Senior
Katie Arbec (Louisville, Ky.) had Kentucky State's lone extra-base hit, a RBI double. Junior
Moana Pinner (Hilo, Hawaii) and sophomore
Olivia Saylor (Lancaster, Ky.) both had RBI for the Thorobreds.

All three of Kentucky State's fifth-inning runs came after the first two outs were recorded.
GAME TWO: TUSKEGEE 4, KENTUCKY STATE 3
The Golden Tigers scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to the 4-3 win in the nightcap.
THE MOMENT THAT MATTERED
The first five Tuskegee batters reached to start the sixth inning, the last coming on a throwing error allowing the fourth run to score.
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
Senior
Sasha Allen (West Covina, Calif.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored, home run and three RBI to pace the Kentucky State offense. It was her first home run of the season.
Freshman
Alexis Menifee (Lexington, Ky.), who carried a one-hitter into the pivotal sixth inning, allowed three earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts in six innings of work.
Freshman
Hailey Unger (Mishawaka, Ind.) scored two of Kentucky State's three runs.
BRED BITS
Collier has now recorded a hit in four straight games.
Saylor has tied her stat from last season in the tenth game, already recording her second stolen base of the year.
