TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Kentucky State University women's basketball team fought to the end, but Tuskegee scored the final nine points of the game for the 63-54 win Monday in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at the Chappie James Arena.
Kentucky State moved to 5-14 overall, 2-10 in the SIAC, while Tuskegee improved to 13-8 overall, 9-3 in the SIAC.
TURNING POINT
After Kentucky State evened the score at 54, Tuskegee got a basket with 39.4 seconds remaining to take the lead for good.
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
Senior
Carnethia Brown (Louisville, Ky.) led the team with 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting, including 4-of-7 from the three-point line. She added three rebounds, three steals and an assist.
For the fourth time this season, sophomore
Deja Antoine (Tamarac, Fla.) reached double figures – scoring 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting. She added five rebounds in 37 minutes of action.
Junior
Erica Jones (South Haven, Miss.) and senior
Victoria Blankenship (Fayetteville, N.C.) each pulled down a team-high eight rebounds with eight and nine points, respectively.

"On the road, we have to stay together," said Kentucky State University Associate Head Coach
Latear Eason. "We got eight players and they fought their butts off tonight."
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Kentucky State got back into the game in the second quarter as it outscored Tuskegee 12-6, holding the Golden Tigers to just 12.5 percent shooting (2-of-16).
The Thorobreds were called for nearly twice as many fouls (23-12) and Tuskegee attempted 14 more free throws.
The advantage on the offensive glass led to Tuskegee getting 16 second-chance points to Kentucky State's six second-chance points.
Kentucky State, the conference's leading three-point shooting team, went 7-of-16 (43.8 percent) from beyond the arc.
