The Kentucky State University women's basketball team fell to Miles College Monday, 50-46, in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at the William Exum Center.
Kentucky State (7-16 overall, 4-12 SIAC) travels to Lane 6:30 p.m. EST Thursday.
TURNING POINT
Kentucky State led by four points with 2:45 remaining, but Miles tallied 10 of the last 12 points to secure the victory.
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
Three players – senior
Carnethia Brown (Louisville, Ky.), junior
Erica Jones (South Haven, Miss.) and senior
Victoria Blankenship (Fayetteville, N.C.) – scored in double figures for the Thorobreds.
Brown led the way with 13 points and a team-high tying five rebounds, while Jones tallied 11 points and four rebounds. Blankenship rounded out the double-figure scoring trio with 10 points.
Junior
Taylore Gotcher (Garland, Texas) tied Brown with five boards. Junior
Allenia Ponder (Smyrna, Ga.) recorded five of Kentucky State's 10 steals.

"Today was a tough loss," said Kentucky State University associate head coach
Latear Eason. "We started the game really flat and any time you play a good team like Miles, you have to be sharp and execute the game plan."
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The seven-point disparity in the fourth quarter was the largest by either team in any quarter.
- Kentucky State shot 94.1 percent (16-of-17) from the free-throw line. Blankenship was a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. A 70 percent shooter from the line, the senior has made 14 of her last 16 (87.5 percent).
- The Thorobreds reserves managed five points, getting outscored by the Miles reserves, 26-5.
- The game featured one tie (44-44) and had five lead changes.
