NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Kentucky State University volleyball team stepped away from conference action, and fell to IU-Southeast Thursday in straight sets, 25-19, 25-20, 25-17.
As a team, Kentucky State hit just .180 with 33 kills on 111 attempts and 13 errors. Sophomore
Mariah Peachey (Liverpool, Ohio) and junior
Robin Poole (Katy, Texas) combined for 18 of the team's 33 kills with 10 and eight kills, respectively.
Freshman
Makayla Berry (Orangeburg, S.C.) and senior
Tapanga Moten (New Orleans, La.) added four kills each.
Junior
Sasha Bills (Mesa, Ariz.) finished with 18 assists, marking the sixth time in eight matches she has reached double-figure assists.
Eleven Thorobreds recorded digs Thursday with junior
Oyuky Benitez (Laveen, Ariz.) leading the way with 13.
Kentucky State (5-3) returns to the court Friday and Saturday for the University of Southern Indiana Invitational. The Thorobreds play Ohio Dominican 12:15 p.m. Friday and Shorter 4:45 p.m. Friday.
