CUMBERLAND, KY – The Kentucky State University women's volleyball team suffered a straight set loss, 26-24, 25-8, 25-23, to the University of Cumberlands in non-conference action Thursday.
Kentucky State was without three of its top eight players, including both setters. In addition, two players returned from injuries in the game. Showing her versatility freshman outside hitter

Sasha Bills and Jaylyn Barnett, finished with a team-high 12 assists.
Senior
Tapanga Moten (New Orleans, La.) led the team with six kills on 16 attempts and four errors for a hitting percentage of .125. She added a team-high four block assists. Junior
Robin Poole (Katy, Texas) and freshman
Ariyonna Johnson (Hopkinsville, Ky.) each recorded five kills for the Thorobreds.
Junior
Oyuky Benitez (Laveen, Ariz.) recorded double-figure digs for the ninth time in the last 10 matches, and for the 24th time this season, with a team-high 11 digs.
Kentucky State (19-12 overall) concludes the regular season with a pair of home games next week. The Thorobreds host Boyce College 6 p.m. Thursday before hosting Central State 6:30 p.m. Friday.
