Playing without its top two scorers, and with six players total, the Kentucky State University women's basketball team didn't manage enough offense in falling to Lane College Saturday, 55-41, in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at the William Exum Center.

Kiante Butts (Memphis, TN) registered her second straight double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while senior
Vinsetta Covington (Birmingham, AL) – in her first start of the season – pulled down a career-best 10 rebounds.
Senior
Tara Jefferson (Milwaukee, WI) added nine points and six rebounds for the Thorobreds.
Kentucky State shot just 22.9 percent (11-of-48) from the floor, including going 0-for-15 in the third quarter. The Thorobreds were 5-of-18 (27.8 percent) from three-point range as the 18 attempts were the second-most by the team this season.
A 13-2 run in the second quarter broke open a close game and gave the Dragons the first double-figure lead of the game.
With the exception of a brief moment at the end of the second quarter, the Kentucky State deficit was more than 10 points.
Kentucky State (10-9 overall, 4-7 SIAC) returns to action 5:30 p.m. Monday, hosting LeMoyne-Owen. KSU defeated the Magicians, 62-39, on December 3.
