DETROIT, MI - The Kentucky State volleyball team suffered a pair of straight set losses Friday on the opening day of the 2018 Warrior Invitational hosted by Wayne State University. KYSU fell in the opener, 25-12, 25-21, 25-7 to the host Warriors, and then lost to Tiffin, 25-13, 25-20, 25-13.

Kentucky State (1-7 overall) plays Tiffin again 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by a 3 p.m. match-up with Illinois Springfield.

WAYNE STATE 3, KENTUCKY STATE 0

Seniors Arlandria Greathouse (Crowley, TX) and Brooke Moore (Bloomfield, MI) recorded four kills each for the Thorobrettes.

For the first time this season, sophomore Gabriella Gracia (Trullio Alto, Puerto Rico) led the team with eight assists, and added five digs. Freshman Alliyah Williams (Sugarland, TX) played well defensively with a team-high seven digs, while sophomore Aisha Cruz tallied six digs.

TIFFIN 3, KENTUCKY STATE 0

Sophomore Robin Poole (Katy, TX) recorded six kills on 22 attempts to lead the Thorobrettes offensively, while sophomore Jalynn Roberts (Davenport, IA) added four kills on 11 attempts.

Poole added a pair of service aces and nine digs for KYSU.

Sophomore Amanda Moore (Caddo Mills, TX) distributed a team-high 15 assists, and Williams led the way with 10 digs. It was the fifth time in eight matches Williams reached double figures in digs.
