Box Score FRANKFORT - - A 16-2 run midway through the second half lifted the Kentucky State University men's basketball team past conference foe Spring Hill 75-73 Saturday in a hard-fought SIAC game at the Exum Center.
The victory snapped a three-game losing skid and ended Spring Hill's four-game winning streak. Kentucky State improved to 7-15 overall, 6-9 in the SIAC, while the Spring Hill Badgers fell to 9-14 overall, 6-8 in the SIAC.
Trailing by as much as 11 in the second half, KSU stayed close to the hot-shooting Badgers with tough defensive play.
Junior Ditalion Battle (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati State Technical & CC) made back-to-back three's and senior William Bryant (Louisville, KY/Kaskaskia CC) got hot and helped the Thorobreds offensive run while KSU's tough defense slowed down Spring Hill.  Bryant scored eight straight points, helping KSU regain a lead they wouldn't give up. During the run, Spring Hill went 0-for-8 from the field with a pair of turnovers.
Battle finished with 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting with a pair of rebounds and Bryant added 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting with five boards. Junior Ray Croon (Detroit, MI/Wayne County CC) put in another solid performance, scoring in double figures with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Junior Kevin Hayes (Detroit, MI/Schoolcraft College) pulled down a team-high eight rebounds with eight points. Senior Dorian Jordan (Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) dished out a team-high eight assists with a team-high three steals.
Kentucky State returns to the hardwood 7:30 p.m. Thursday, traveling to Central State for a SIAC matchup
