GAME PREVIEW: Clark Atlanta University



The Kentucky State University looks to snap a three-game skid and move to .500 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action when the Thorobreds host Clark Atlanta 5 p.m. Monday.

GAME NOTES | LIVE STATS

 THE TEAMS: Kentucky State (4-7 overall, 2-3 SIAC) has lost five of the last six games, including three straight.

Clark Atlanta (4-6 overall, 1-2 SIAC) enters the game on a three-game winning streak after beating Central State Saturday, 78-71.

THE COACHES: Jamaal Jackson is in his third season at the helm of his alma mater. The Thorobreds are 22-42 under Jackson. Kentucky State has been one of the top scoring teams in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference under Jackson. He came to KSU following a stint at Bluefield State College, where he led them to increased win totals in every season. The same can be said about his tenure at Stillman, where the Tigers improved upon their win totals.

Former 12-year NBA veteran George Lynch is in his first season as a collegiate head coach. He came to Atlanta after serving as the assistant coach of the G-Leagues Grand Rapids Drive.

THE PLAYERS: Senior Kevin Hayes has been the team's leading scorer in nine of the team's 11 games, and is second in the SIAC with 19.4 points per game. Senior guard Ditalion Battle has reached 20 points in three of the last four games to elevate his average 14.2 points.

Shelvick Henry and Jalen Mitchell are powering the Clark Atlanta offense, combining for 33.6 points per game. Henry leads the team with 17.4, while Mitchell is adding 16.2 points. In SIAC action, Mitchell has upped his average to 20.2 in three games.

Romaine Thomas is third CAU player in double figures with 11.1 points and he leads the team with 7.5 rebounds. Four players are averaging more than 30 minutes per game for the Panthers.
