Kentucky State was held to a season-low 53 points in falling to 3-5 overall, 0-3 in the SIAC. The Thorobreds travel to Lemoyne Owen 5:30 p.m. CST/6:30 p.m. EST Monday to conclude a five-game road trip.
The Dragons turned up the pressure in the third quarter extending their one-point lead to 10 points with a 10-1 run. Kentucky State fought back to get back to within three with 2:52 remaining. On its next possession, the Dragons pulled down four offensive boards before doubling the lead with a three-pointer. Lane finished the half with seven straight points to take a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter.
The Thorobreds shot just 27.9 percent (17-of-61), including seven percent (1-of-13) from beyond the arc, while Lane was 24-of-54 (44.4 percent) from the field, including a blistering 53.3 percent (16-of-3) in the second half.
Senior
Brooke Wallace (Oberlin, OH) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds with three steals, while junior
Jessie Kee (Indianapolis, IN) – in her first career start – finished with 14 points and seven boards.
Sophomore
Erica Jones (South Haven, MS) added 10 points, six boards and three steals.
