GAME NOTES

THE TEAMS: Kentucky State is coming off a 77-69 win over Cedarville to even its record at 2-2. The Thorobreds connected on a season-high nine three-pointers on a season-best 40.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Fort Valley State is 0-7 on the season after falling to Columbus State, 82-69, Monday. Jaylon McMillan dropped 24 points with seven boards, while Brenton Cliette Jordon had 14 points and 16 rebounds.

THE COACHES: Jamaal Jackson is in his third season at the helm of his alma mater. The Thorobreds are 20-38 under Jackson. The same can be said about his tenure at Stillman, where the Tigers improved upon their win totals.

Mark Sherrill is the head coach for the FVSU Wildcats.

THE PLAYERS: Senior forward Kevin Hayes is dropping in a team-high 21.0 points per game, and has scored at least 16 points in every game this season. He is shooting a team-best 53.3 percent from the floor. Coming off his best shooting game of the season, senior Ditalion Battle boosted his scoring average to 11.0 points

Seniors Austin Sherrell and David Jelks are pulling down 5.8 rebounds, while freshman Jah Bennett is coming off the bench for 5.3 boards. Redshirt junior Felix Wilson has distributed a team-high 12 assists.

Fort Valley has three players averaging double digits, led by senior Jaylon McMillian. The point guard is averaging 13.7 points, while shooting 32.5 percent from the floor. His 117 shots are almost double what the nearest teammate is attempting.

K'Viontae Williams is second on the team with 12.6 points, while Shawn Foxbrennan leads the team with 7.0 rebound and is third with 12.2 points.
