Box Score

Frankfort, Ky. – Kentucky State University earned its tenth win in eleven games, defeating Tuskegee University 14-4 in SIAC West Division action on Sunday afternoon.

The Thorobrettes struck early in the bottom of the first, with runners on second and third senior third baseman Katelyn Drake ground into a fielder's choice to drive in junior second baseman Brittney Gately to give the home squad a 1-0 advantage. During the next at-bat, senior first baseman Kaitlin Oshiro drilled a double into centerfield to score Drake and extend the lead to 2-0.

KSU (12-18, 8-5 SIAC) added another run to its lead in the bottom of the second, as senior outfielder Tyniesha Wilson hit a sacrifice fly to right field with senior catcher Emily Ross on third to bring the runner home and make the score 3-0.  Later in the inning, junior outfielder Alysha Sakamura singled and junior second baseman walked to put runners on first and second before sophomore Jittaun Thompson crushed a three-run shot over the left field fence, her second of the season, to give the home team a 6-0 advantage.

The Thorobrettes' bats stayed hot in the bottom of the third as junior designated player Keyana Dunn launched a lead-off home run deep over the left field fence, making the score 7-0. Following back-to-back singles by Ross and freshman outfielder Natalia Bocanegra, Wilson walked to load the bases for KSU. The Thorobrettes added their eighth run of the game after a wild pitch allowed Ross to slide into home. Later in the inning with the bases still loaded, Thompson cleared the bases with a three-run triple, recording her sixth RBI of the game, before advancing to third on an errant throw home to make the score 11-0. Later in the inning, Oshiro's fly ball to center field was dropped, driving in Thompson and capping off a six-run inning for KSU.

The Golden Tigers clawed their way back into the contest in the top of the fourth, scoring four runs to cut the Thorobrettes' lead to 12-4 until Thompson poked a double over the glove of the TU shortstop with the bases loaded to drive in her eight RBI of the contest and make the score 14-4.
