Frankfort, Ky. – Kentucky State University softball picked up a decisive 13-2 victory over SIAC opponent Lemoyne-Owen College Saturday morning.
KSU (5-17, 6-6 SIAC) jumped out the gates early with hot bats, scoring five runs off four hits in the bottom half of the first inning to take an early lead.

Junior second baseman
Brittney Gately continued the Thorobrettes' red-hot offense in the second frame, singling through the left side to lead off the inning. Gately stole second for her sixth stolen base of the season to move into scoring position. Sophomore shortstop,
Jittaun Thompson capitalized as she drove her home with a single to right field for her team-leading 14th RBI of the 2017 campaign. KSU added three more runs in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 9-1.
The Thorobrettes controlled the remainder of the game, picking up four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to earn their third straight win. Â
Sophomore pitcher
Emily Jenkins picked up her first win of the season after an impressive complete game performance as she struck out six Lady Magicians in five innings of work. Junior designated hitter
Keyana Dunn drove in a game-high three runs for the hosts, going 1-for-3 from the plate. Senior first baseman
Kaitlin Oshiro added two RBIs for KSU, going 2-for-4 to give her a team-high 19 hits on the year.
Both senior third baseman
Katelyn Drake and Thompson went 3-for-3 from the plate with two RBIs.
