Frankfort, Ky.—Kentucky State University softball successfully pulled off its first doubleheader sweep of the season on Friday against LeMoyne-Owen College.
The Thorobrettes (4-17, 4-5) hosted an opponent for the first time this season and are now 2-0 in the Capitol City. The third and final game of the series with the Lady Magicians will take place on Saturday morning at 10 am ET.

KSU rode the steady pitching of freshman pitcher
Chante Thome as she kept LOC guessing throughout the afternoon.
Sophomore shortstop
Jittaun Thompson got the scoring started as she crushed a two-run home run to right center field for an early KSU advantage. The home squad played add-on, as an additional run was added in the first, followed by another in the second.
Thome had thrown three scoreless innings as she stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the third with a 4-0 lead. With senior first baseman
Kaitlin Oshiro leading off second after her fifth double of the season, Thome belted a home run to straight away centerfield for her first career long ball and a 6-0 KSU lead.
KSU plated two more runs as Thome closed out the five-inning contest with a complete game shutout and her first collegiate win at 8-0.

Game 2: KSU 15 LOC 6
The Thorobrettes' bats stayed productive in the second game accumulating 10 hits behind a complete game performance by freshman
Kaija Aikman.
LOC challenged KSU in the opening inning for two runs, but due to an active second inning by the home the squad, the lead didn't last. KSU drew seven walks in the second frame as they accounted for nine earned runs for a 9-2 advantage. The Lady Magicians cut the lead down to three after a four-run fourth inning, but KSU struck in the bottom half of the inning.
Oshiro launched her second home run of the season over the center field wall, increasing the Thorobrettes' lead to 10-6. Later in the inning senior center field, Tyneshia Wilson lined a ball down the right field for a two-RBI single, and Thompson added two more RBIs to her day with a double to left field. Katelyn Drake add a RBI herself on a ground out to third, making the KSU lead 15-6.

Aikman closed out the fifth and final frame for her first career victory. Thompson finished 2-for-4 from the plate with a team-high three RBIs. Oshiro went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
